The Mayor of Velas, Catarina Cabeceiras, took part in the celebrations of the 126th anniversary of Sociedade Nova Aliança, marking a milestone of deep cultural and civic significance for the municipality.

The commemorations highlighted the institution’s long-standing legacy, spanning more than a century of continuous service to the community. Over the decades, Sociedade Nova Aliança has played a vital role in promoting culture, music, and social life, establishing itself as a cornerstone of the municipality’s collective identity.

During the event, the mayor praised the enduring work carried out by the association, emphasizing the commitment of successive leaderships, musicians, members, and collaborators. Their dedication, she noted, has ensured not only the survival but the flourishing of this historic institution.
