In years gone by, much was said about cynophilia, but a great many ideas were also expressed that were profoundly misguided in their understanding of the relationship between humans and dogs. For instance, some maintained that a dog might grow accustomed to being mistreated, even by its own owner, and that the farther away its owner lived, the less meaningful the bond between them would become, among other misconceptions.

Naturally, genetics plays a significant role, but so do nourishment and a healthy relationship between owners and their dogs. Indeed, there are those who have devoted themselves to this field and have even received awards, and in certain cases, some have come to regard their dogs almost as members of the family. Such is the case with Paulo da Casa Cheia and António Luís, whose dogs are truly exceptional. All of this is admirable, and it is with great pleasure that I share these examples of our canine companions. They are presented below.
