The Mayor of Horta attended the commemorative session of the 32nd anniversary of the Association of Parents and Friends of People with Disabilities of Faial Island (APADIF), which took place yesterday at the Faialense Theater.
For Carlos Ferreira, “APADIF is, without exaggeration, an absolutely vital institution for our society. Its work goes beyond simply supporting users; it is a true mission of inclusion, citizenship, and dignity for human life.”
“It is a labor of love and commitment, which brings out the best in Faial and its people,” emphasized the mayor.
During his speech, the mayor of Faial highlighted the work carried out by APADIF in various areas, through childhood (ATL Crescer, ATL Esperança, and ATL Arco-Íris), youth (Youth Development and Inclusion Center), the elderly (Conceição Day Center), and people with psychomotor disabilities at the Training and Inclusion Support Center (CACI).
Reiterating its commitment to the association, the City Council “has been closely monitoring the transition process to the new facilities of the former Health Center, a decisive step towards the modernization and expansion of the services provided by APADIF.”
Celebrating 32 years of existence, APADIF honored employees with 10 years of service and presented shows starring users of the institution’s various services, demonstrating the work of inclusion and integration developed over the years.
