The Board of Directors of the Ponta Delgada Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIPD) announced that it had sent a letter to the President of the Azores Social Security Institute requesting an analysis of the possibility of opening daycare centers on Saturdays.
According to the information provided, the initiative, says the business representative, “arises from the growing need to respond to changes in family structures and the demands of the labor market, where many professionals work shifts, including weekends, without having a family support network.”
Furthermore, “the lack of daycare centers open on Saturdays represents an added difficulty in balancing work and family life, particularly affecting single-parent families and workers in sectors that cannot interrupt their activity.”
The note states that “recognizing that this is a complex matter, but one of significant collective interest, the CCIPD believes that its assessment should be integrated into the Azores Social Security strategic plan, in order to identify solutions that promote greater harmony between work demands and family life.”
With this request, the CCIPD states in the note sent to the editorial offices that it “reaffirms its commitment to contributing to policies that strengthen social cohesion and support the stability of Azorean families.
